Even though his name might be misleading, his origin is from Puerto Rico, and is a young painter who is starting to move up in the exclusive and difficult world of New York City’s art galleries by showing his first one-person exhibition at Denise Bibro Art Gallery. This exhibit is the culmination of four years of intense experimentation with textiles, found objects and geometric elements.

From a Puerto Rican mother and French father, Georges Le Chevallier was raised in Puerto Rico, from where he transferred to the United States, establishing himself in New York City in 1992. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, especially in France, where he spent his summers growing up. He also studied at the San Fernando Fine Arts Academy in Madrid; it was in this city where Le Chevallier had his first exhibitions.

In search of a more complete academic formation, he also studied at California State University in Long Beach, where he developed a more personal visual language in his works. Right now Le Chevalier is involved in the creation of outside murals, mentoring young urban artists who come from low income families.
